Discarded Things Gallery
I am very interested in the processes of decay. This manifests most often
as interest in dilapidated old buildings and other human constructions, and
as interest in refuse.
Life is all about order. Life exists by ordering atoms and molecules in very specific ways, and when that ordering is disrupted, life is challenged and may come to an end.
But this is only half the story. Nothing is created without something else being destroyed. Bacteria break down molecules into simpler molecules. Plants break down carbon dioxide in order to get the carbon. We break down and consume plant material in order to get the raw materials to build our own bodies, and we break down many other things in order to build our homes, cars, computers, and cameras.
Ultimately I think that creation and destruction are purely subjective terms. What we are really seeing is transformation; the eternal dance of the cosmos.
