Plants and Lichens Gallery
My photography is inspired by my personal sense of wonder, and there is much
in the world of living things that I find wonderous. Plants fascinate me as
much as animals and insects do. Plants alone sustain life without preying on
other life (though not all plants do this). They are the source of the organic
material upon which all other life depends.
Flowers attract us with their graceful shapes and bright colours; lichens by their strange forms. Lichens are incredibly tolerant of natures vagaries, and able to grow on wood, on rock, inside of rocks, and even on discarded furniture.
Alas, mankind it tolerates less well. As air quality declines, so too do lichen populations.
