Soft fall colours make a nice background to the silky fibers of the milkweed seeds in this photograph. In early summer milkweed displays tiny, bright pink flowers in large clusters. When the flowers have been polinated the flower closes up into a green pod, which turns brown by the end of the year, and opens to release many seeds attached to the fibers that allow them to blow in the wind to new locations.
